What is the Google Business Profile score?

A score out of 100 for how complete your Google Business Profile is: claimed, open, categories, description, hours, website, phone, photos, reviews and more. AI answers for local services read these profiles. 80 or more passes.

Every scan reads your public Google Business Profile and checks it against a list. Each check is worth points, and the score is the points you earned out of the points we could check. You'll find the card on your dashboard (the main checks) and on the Fixes page (all of them).

What we check

  • The basics, worth the most: claimed by you, and marked as open.
  • A primary category, a description of 250 characters or more, opening hours, your website and your phone number.
  • 10 or more photos and 10 or more reviews.
  • Smaller extras: more categories, a rating of 4.0 or higher, attributes, services listed, and a post in the last 30 days (posts are checked on paid plans only).

How to read it

80 or more passes, unless the profile is unclaimed or marked closed. If a check couldn't be read, for example on an older scan, it's left out rather than failed. The weights are our judgement of what matters for local recommendations, not a Google formula.

Fixing it

When the score is low, your fixes include one step per missing check, the biggest first, with where to click in your profile and drafts to paste: a description, a post and category ideas. The next weekly check reads the profile again and marks the fix done when it passes.
